The 20th Anniversary NAFTO National Conference wrapped up on Friday and it was a great success. The turnout was again small, but we were able to accomplish some tremendous things not only in the area of training, but also in organizing the national for another 20 years.
We had a great turnout from the federal agencies and we have even taken steps to add a federal chapter to NAFTO. I will have more information for you when all of the details have been finalized. The by-laws were updated with chapter responsibilities spelled out and plans were made for the IACP conference where NAFTO plans to reach out to those people who can help make a change in police training, the Chiefs of Police.
Don Bowman with the Federal Protective Service was elected as Member at Large B for NAFTO. This was the first time in years that we have had so much interest in executive board positions with 5 nominees. All of the candidates were highly qualified and I am elated to see so much enthusiasm.
At the banquet a number of Master FTOs were recognized and I will be posting a list on the website soon. The FTO of the year was also recognized for his service to the FTO community. Finally the biggest surprise of the evening was Willis Peachey's being awarded the Glenn Kaminsky Award for Excellence. I will have more on each of these events later in the week.
Thank you to all that attended this fantastic conference and start planning for next year conference now.
