The FTO demonstrates a master level understanding of their role as a leader and learner and has a positive impact on the training program.

2. Impact should be measurable, clearly expressed,
and well deserved.
1. Currently serving as an FTO.
2. Two years of service as an FTO.
3. Eight hours of leadership training.
4. Eight hours of instructor development training.
Recipient's biography
Available to ranks including Officer and Sergeant.
Award should be linked to the significance and impact of the accomplishment or contribution on the FTO program through a special project, assignment, or task. This contribution should be considered significant and “above and beyond” the recipient’s normal expectations.

Served as a member of the FTO program during special contribution.

3. Endorsement should include 2 or more examples of the following:
Number of trainees trained
Special projects completed in support of the FTO program
Personal impact on trainees (supported by trainee evaluations and/or letter of support from trainees)
1. Five+ years of service to the recipient's FTO program.
2. Extracurricular activities in support of the FTO program
pre-academy & post academy
tech support
peer development
serves in leadership role in law enforcement association, board, or committee
3. Continued Education
16 hours of instructor development courses
Subject Matter Expert instructor certificate (or an equivalent)

Available to ranks including Officer, Sergeant, and Lieuteant.
Applications will be emailed to the NAFTO President and then forwarded to the Master FTO Program Committee. Committee members will review, discuss, and approve or deny the applications. The Committee Chair will then advise the President of the applicant’s status and a letter will be sent to the applicant advising them of their status. A notation will be added to the applicant’s membership record showing them to be a recognized Master FTO. Master Field Training Officers will receive certificate, letter of acceptance into the program, and recognition below on the NAFTO website.
